It was during 1958 we first saw a Buckle Coupe hit the motor racing scene.
Bill Buckle in the grey & white Buckle hit the NSW and Victorian hill climb scene and held the
class record at most of them.
Buckles raced in hill climb events at Templestowe, Bathurst,
Lithgow, Silverdale, Bumble Hill, Wollongong, Foleys Hill, Hepburn Springs, Rob Roy, Amaroo
Park, Lakeview, Inverell, Dapto, Nowra, Kiama, Newcastle, Tamworth, Inverell.
Also competed at Lakeview, Mangalore, Camperdown and Castlereagh Drag Strips,
Geelong and Albert Park Speed Trials,
Amaroo Park dirt circuit, Tamworth Gymkhana, Liverpool Speedway Lap Dash.
16 out of the 20 Buckles built, competed in motor sport.

The record time was 1 min 1-7 sec, held by Jack Myers Thunderbird racing car.
At this meeting, 3 drivers broke this record.
1st G. Davidson DPR Triumph 1 min 1-2 sec.
2nd Bill Buckle Buckle 1 min 2-49 sec.
3rd Jack Myers Thunderbird 1.min 6-59 sec.
Great to see Bill Buckle split up the two open wheeler racing cars.
